Zara — Privacy Policy

Zara (“we”, “the app”) is an AI-companion app. This policy explains what we collect and why.

Eligibility

Zara is intended only for users 18 years or older. We ask for your date of birth to verify this and do not knowingly allow anyone under 18 to use the app.

What we collect

• Mobile number — for sign-in via OTP (handled by Firebase Authentication).
• Date of birth — to verify you are 18+.
• Your messages — text you send, and the AI’s replies, so the conversation persists and stays in context.
• Voice input (optional) — when you use the mic to dictate, your speech is converted to text and sent as a normal text message. We do not store audio recordings.
• Usage data — basic timestamps (e.g. last active) to power streaks and reminders.

We do not collect photos or videos from you. Media shown in the chat is provided by us, not uploaded by you.

How we use it

• To provide the chat experience and remember your conversation.
• To generate AI replies. Message text is sent to our AI provider (OpenAI) to produce responses. It is not used to identify you.
• To send you in-app notifications (e.g. reminders), if you allow them.
• To manage your subscription and free trial.

Who we share it with

• Google Firebase / Google Cloud — authentication, database, file storage, and app infrastructure.
• OpenAI — to generate AI replies from your message text.
• Google Play — to process subscription payments.

We do not sell your personal data.

Storage & security

Your data is stored in Google Cloud (Firebase) and protected by security rules so that only you can access your own conversations and files. The AI key and subscription logic run only on our secure server, never in the app.

Your choices

• You can stop using the app and request deletion of your account and data at any time by contacting us.
• You can disable notifications in your device settings.

Retention

We keep your data while your account is active. On a deletion request, we remove your conversations, profile, and files.
